Whole-House & Commercial System Design

Precision Design for Maximum Comfort, Efficiency, and Longevity

At Resource Mechanical Services, we don’t just install HVAC equipment — we engineer complete systems that are sized, ducted, and tested specifically for your home or light-commercial building. Our in-house design process is one of the biggest reasons clients trust us with their most important comfort upgrades.

Why Proper System Design Matters — Especially in Houston

Houston’s climate is unforgiving. Extreme humidity from the Gulf, shifting temperatures, high pollen loads, refinery emissions, and varying building styles mean that a “standard” HVAC installation often fails to deliver true comfort or efficiency.

Most companies rely on rules of thumb or quick load estimates. The result? Oversized units that short-cycle, undersized systems that never quite keep up, poor airflow, high energy bills, and hidden moisture problems that lead to mold.

We do it differently.

Our In-House Manual J, S, D, and T Process

Every system we install or modify receives a full, professional design package performed by our own team. Here’s exactly what that includes:

Manual J – Load Calculation We calculate the exact heating and cooling loads of your building, often by room, factoring in Houston’s unique weather data, insulation levels, window orientation, occupancy, home infiltration rates, and even your specific humidity challenges.

Manual S – Equipment Selection Using the Manual J results, we select the right equipment size and type (air conditioner, heat pump, furnace, or combination) so it matches your home’s actual needs — no guesswork and no oversized units that waste energy and reduce dehumidification performance.

Manual D – Duct Design We design the entire duct system for proper airflow, balanced delivery, and minimal pressure loss. This ensures every room gets the right amount of conditioned air, eliminating hot or cold spots. We further calculate the dehumidifiers into these designs.

Manual T – Air Distribution Testing After installation, we test and verify airflow, static pressure, and temperature drop to confirm the system performs exactly as designed. We perform this full design process only for the homes and businesses we serve — we do not offer standalone Manual J, S, D, or T reports for other contractors.

How Our Design Process Connects Everything

Because we are part of the same family as Able Environmental and 877QuicDry, our system designs go far beyond basic HVAC:

  • Building science integration — Blower door, duct blaster, moisture infiltration, and water penetration testing data from Able Environmental inform every design decision.
  • Humidity & mold prevention — We size and configure systems to work seamlessly with dedicated dehumidification and ventilation, greatly reducing the risk of mold in ducts and on coils. If mold is already present, we coordinate directly with 877QuicDry for complete HVAC system cleaning, redesign, and restoration.
  • Indoor air quality optimized — Proper airflow and ventilation paths are built in from day one, supporting the advanced filtration and fresh-air solutions we install.

The result is a system that delivers consistent temperature, controlled humidity, cleaner air, and lower operating costs — all engineered for Houston’s specific conditions.

The Resource Mechanical Advantage

  • True custom engineering — In-house design means faster turnaround and total accountability.
  • 30+ years of IAQ expertise — Our leadership brings decades of hands-on knowledge to every calculation.
  • Sister-company support — Immediate access to advanced testing and mold remediation when needed.
  • Long-term performance guarantee — Systems that actually perform as promised, year after year.
